The Crash Audit

Seventy-two hours isn't a recovery window. It's the only measurement you'll get.

The crash sucks. It comes on seemingly randomly, but I’m here to tell you, nothing about this is random.

It runs about three days. The first is the drop. The second is where the symptoms peak and the guilt starts arriving. And by the third day, there’s usually a flat stretch that feels close enough to normal that people call it the end of it, get up, and resume.

Three days is also, as it happens, exactly the recovery window that sleep researchers have tested and found insufficient. We’ll get to that in a second, though.

Which is why I want to do something with these three days, audit them.
